Tell us what you think in the SASPAC User Survey
If you haven't already, please take a few moments to complete the SASPAC user survey. This is an opportunity to feedback on your experience of the software and voice any comments you have on future developments. Planning for the 2011 Census well underway and the Census Offices are now thinking about how best to deliver these outputs to users. With this is mind, the SASPAC team are keen to understand what users will require of the software in 2011. The deadline for responses is 30 June.

Mid-Year Population Estimates for the UK
The annual Mid-Year Population Estimates for UK Local Authorities (2001 - 2007) are now available in SASPAC. These are estimates of the resident population by single year of age and sex, and published by the National Statistical Agencies (ONS/GROS/NISRA). An updated version of SASPAC (v9.06) and the related datasets can be downloaded from the SASPAC website.
 

2011 Census Working Groups
SASPAC is represented on the Census Offices' recently formed 2011 Census Outputs and Web Services Working Groups. The former of these is tasked with advising on aspects of the Census output strategy and user requirements, and the latter will be investigating how the data could be delivered over the internet. For those not already aware, you can monitor and participate in the Census Offices' Output Consultation website here. Data Visualisation Day - 7 July 2009
The giCentre at City University London offers cutting edge expertise in mapping and data visualisation and is increasingly working with commercial organisations and government to make sense of large data sets through visualisation. Their Visualisation Day has been designed to equip information professionals with guidance, ideas and skills relating to current visualisation methods, approaches and technologies. Developments in Geodemographic Visualisation - 15 September 2009
The next OACUG seminar is on visualising geodemographics and enhancing interpretation and will be held at the Royal Statistical Society in London. Alex Singleton and Dan Vickers have put together a programme of expert presentations on the latest innovative developments, aimed at those with special professional and academic interest as well as users of geodemographics.
